  In order to conver a PostScript file into a Sun raster file or a GIF file,
you have to have a PostScript interpreter that can read the PS commands and
draw them onto a pixmap which can then be saved as a raster or GIF (by
window-dumping it, probably).

  One available PostScript interpreter is GhostScript, distributed by the Free
Software Foundation (it's GNU software).  It's archived in the anonymous ftp
directory on prep.ai.mit.edu, and at many other sites; use the archie server
on quiche.cs.mcgill.ca (telnet to it and log in as "archie") to search for the
string "ghostscript" to find the other sites.
