Actually, the product you refer to is known as OS-9000. OS-9 was written in assembly language for the 680x0 and 683xx families; we re-coded the kernel and file managers in C so that we can more easily port OS-9000 to other platforms, which today include 68020/30 and 80386SX/386/486, and will include RISC implementations later this year. Of course, certain critical parts of the kernel still need to be done in assembly language of the host processor.
