    1) FTP software have a package called LanWatch, witch monitors and
       disassembles network traffic.

The MIT/CMU/Harvard "PCIP" freeware distribution contains "Netwatch",
an ancestor/cousin of LANWatch.  The version on husc6.harvard.edu
represents a considerable improvement on older versions.
