There is one important point you have over-looked. Because the HST does not have too cancel it's own echo, it can train/retain is millseconds instead of seconds. When ever I call long distance and get a bad line, I am very grateful of this. Granted the V.32 performance can be better in full-duplex operation; however that was not its intended design.
