Here are a couple of questions about hard drives for you: 1. Given: an original IBM AT, with an 11-entry drive table in ROM. How possible is it to tell SETUP that NO hard drives are connected, and then go and plug in a HD controller and a (supposedly) non-supported drive? Would the ROMs on the controller allow it to be used anyway? 2. What would be the consequences of hooking up, say, a 150 meg ESDI drive with 34 sectors/track and telling setup it is a type 9 drive? (Type 9 is 112 mb, 17 sectors/track) Would the drive operate at 112 meg, 17 s/t, or would it simply not work? 3. I'm somewhat familiar with the ROM upgrade/patch argument. In case it isn't obvious, I'm wondering what the chances of avoiding both are! Does anyone have any experience with big and/or odd HDs on such an AT? I'd really appreciate any help anyone can give me! Thanks! pat =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= | Patrick K.
