I am looking for a tool which, given a Bourne (or preferably Korn) shell,
would produce a cross-reference listing of the various shell variables
used.  What would be even nicer is if an indicator as to whether the
variable is being given a value or having a value read from it.

I have seen such things for C programs - has anyone adapted one for shells?
