I did a benchmark on an Amiga network running AmigaNet software and Hydra systems ethernet boards. The network had 7 Amiga workstations (2500/30) banging on a single 2500/30 file server and the performance is outstanding. I assembled a 10000 line source file on both a local and remote hard disk partition. The assembler generated over 200K of code and 300K of listing file. The assembly took 17 seconds to local hard disk and 18 across the network. When you consider that the Amiga is not specially designed to work as a file server as most server-type machines are, the performance is quite good. As a matter of fact, I seriously doubt that you can match this performance with many other machines. Just how much can you do on a Sparc in 15 seconds, especially to a remote hard disk? In a word, the Amiga screams! mykes
