If nothing else, it adds dozens of extra bytes to thousands (maybe even millions?) of '.newsrc' files :-) On the serious side: I also think that traffic could adversely be affected by a splitting of newsgroups. As I see it, for two reasons: 1. There will be people that will refrain from posting because they are no longer sure as to _where_ to post. 2. There will be people bashing others because they posted something to the "incorrect" group which, in turn, magnifies (1). Oh well, those I my $.02 worth....
