Editors tend to be a religious issue; there's never any point in arguing the merits of one vs the other. People have different needs and different wants; no editor is 'one size fits all'. The best editor is one that doesn't get in my way, works the way I want it to, and does what I want. I bet that matches your definition of the best editor as well.
