That's a non-issue, since certainly there would be mutually exclusive access to system resources such as peripherals. All multitasking operating systems have to address this issue. MicroSoft Windows 3.0 is built around MS-DOS, which has similar characteristics as ProDOS, and it works wonderfully well.
