Thanks to EVERYONE who replied to my question about the "differences" between OEM, ASCII, and ANSI. Some of the replies were very helpful (though some implied I had the I.Q. lower than my shoe size). If any of you who answered were wondering, let me explain the question in context now (since, obviously, I failed to before). I was working on a text filter which would open a window and display text according to different formats. The question I posed dealt with a feature of the filter which allowed the text to be viewed according to an OEM/ANSI or ASCII setting. Because I did not implement this part of the filter myself, I did not fully understand its meaning. [Thus, my earlier posting was somewhat ambiguous.] I do, however, understand it now, and I would like to thank one user in particular (sorry, I don't have your name) who had the intuition to give the information I wanted re- gardless of the ambiguity of my question.
