  Have a friend who wants to unload a PS/2 Model 30 on me cheap of which,
when turned on, displays alternating green and pink vertical bars, some
flashing, and beeps when a key is pressed. IBM wants $450 to replace the
whole motherboard. Any idea what could be the problem?
  Any help (other than "must be a bad motherboard" ) would be appreciated.
