Summary: A problem with a new 1.2G harddisk Keywords: SCSI disk, boot tests, disk errors Message-ID: <1991Jan14.164916.302@athena.mit.edu> Date: 14 Jan 91 16:49:16 GMT Sender: glee@athena.mit.edu Followup-To: glee@athena.mit.edu Organization: Massachusetts Institute of Technology Lines: 24 Hello. I need some help very badly. We just installed a 1.2G seagate WREN-VII drive in our M/120. At first I forgot to take out the terminating resistors (SIPS), which is necessary because this is the second disk in an expansion cabinet. Before the SIPS were removed, I got a "SCSI Master Test... Failed" message, but afterward this test passed. On Friday we brought the computer down for the weekend, and found on Sunday that the test was failing. A full summary of the errors follows: Power on: (Self tests start, LED for 1.2G disk lights continuously) SCSI Master Test.....Failed Autoboot: (various messages, then) SCSI 2L0: Sense Data F0 0 0 2 0 0 0 0 A 0 0 0 0 4 0 0 0 Sense Key 2: Drive can't be accessed Error Code 0x4: Drive not ready Please send me any advice/diagnostics that would be helpful. My whole lab depends on this disk for data aquisition: I need to fix this problem quickly. I am currently running RISC OS4.01, and besides not recognizing the disk, the M/120 seems to work.
