Keywords: migrate Message-ID: <831@safn2.UUCP> Date: 8 Jan 91 16:15:36 GMT Organization: Southern Aluminum Finishing, Atlanta, GA Lines: 27 I want to migrate my tower 450/32 from Unix 2.01.01 to 3.00.01. CODAR tells me I must migrate to the lp spooler from lpr and I am having a problem understanding how to handle the -fm lpr option. Do I have this right?: A form will be a class. When I change forms on a printer, I move the printer device from one class to another. Are classes with no printer assigned ok? Can I spool to a class with no devices assigned to it? CODAR also tells me that I will loose the /menu/obj user interface I use now. I must use the va menu system. Can I copy my foo.sh, foo.t, foo.r, foo.h. files somewhere in the /appl; or will the migration be more complex than this? The migration guide says that applications using direct memory addresses must be recompiled (like I will have to upgrade my Unify DBM and Uniplex); but other stuff (like b-news and Century's Term) will not have to be recompiled. Anyone know of things I have not thought of? I want to do this job over a weekend. Am I underestimating the time required? The migration guide is not too good on these points. Thanks in advance. -- Reynolds McClatchey (Southern Aluminum Finishing Co, Atlanta, GA, USA) Architectural Aluminum. Custom Fabrication.
