I don't like to run as root when I have a "reasonable doubt". -- It seems that you DO have to either change CRISP.Inst or first unpack and rename the CRISP distribution files in order to build it. Another BIG caveat: There are numerous places in the source where "/usr/local" or some such path is hard-wired. You might want to run a SED script on the distribution to make sure everything goes where you want it to.
