Summary: Any that I can afford? Message-ID: <7758@castle.ed.ac.uk> Date: 11 Jan 91 03:47:03 GMT References: <1991Jan9.201237.24959@dsd.es.com> <78jo02ri04CF01@JUTS.ccc.amdahl.com> Organization: Edinburgh University Computing Service Lines: 14 X is impossible. So are the X manuals. The _commands_ are described, but the ideas are not. So, for example, I have no idea what the difference is between X and a window manager like motif or twm. Or what a widget is. Are there any good books on how to use and program in X? And are there any in the budget of a student? Apologies if this is an FAQ, but there doesn't seem to be an FAQ posting. Thanks in advance. -- \/ o\ Paul Crowley aipdc@uk.ac.ed.castle /\__/ "Trust me, I know what I'm doing" - Sledge Hammer
