You can always include peaces of whatever fine control you wish. Plus, the "another layer of the system" presented by WCL is so simple (you have to use resource files anyway, don't you ?), that it can be fully mastered within hours. Considering your (valid) comment "struggling with minutiae about resource interactions", that was the MAIN motivation behind "inventing" WCL.
