First, it is probably the smallest machine of its kind, but what really makes it a honey is the fact that with the bns you can have open as many as 20 files at a time. It would be like working on 20 letters at once in Wordperf all at once. I'm not sure of all the things it can do, but as you canguess, it is basically a glorified word processor. However, you can use it with a modem and get in to fido with it. It comes with its own speech, but doesn't have an internal disk drive that comes with it. However, an external one is now available and will allow you to read ibm files as well as allowing the ibm clone be able to read bns files.
