when I took my extra in 1982 prior to volenteer examiners they
substituted the diagrams for 5 more multiple choice questions.  I
used the dick bash study method which some dy hard hams turned their
noses up at but it worked for me. it was the only time I passed an
amateur exam the first time and I was in and out of the fcc office in
less than an hour. I am glad that is behind me now I don't know how I
would fair in front of a volenteer examiner. probably flunk it four
or 5 times. I remember the code test well it was a typical qso and
the lady giving me the test said spell indiana and I said indianna
and she said spell it again I looked at my braille copy and said
i_n_d_a_n_a and she said okay
