I just bought a panasonic pv4066 vhs hi fi unit that has something
called voice confirmation it doesn't sound like our voice synthesizers
or our clocks. it is a female voice that is absolutely and completely
inteelligible
she says play fast forward rewind stop I am scanning the book this
weekend to figure out the programing and clock functions and I will have
more to say on this unit later. it is hard to find even though it is a
current production model. I had to go through a wholesaler and he
aggreed to sell to me. if anyone else is interested the unit cost me
around $460 or so I think and that is wholesale I think.  you can
probably buy from them too given the special circumstances.
