rn 4.3.1.4, SPARCstation 1, SunOS 4.0.3c

How do I get rn to save multiple news articles in one pipe command?
For example, I want to be able to give the command

        1403-1406w | filterpict

and have only *one* invocation of the filterpict script executed with
all four articles concatenated together and piped to the filterpict
script.  Instead, rn runs the filterpict script four times. I looked
at the PIPESAVER environment variable but this is no help because the
%B substitution only substitutes for a single article, not for a list
of articles like above.
