this is one thing that i really like about vi. i tried using emacs
for awhile and i liked it but i really hated type control or meta
something **for** **every** **single** **command** **you** **want** 
**to** **do**

Are you annoyed by my asterisks?  then you get the picture.  having to
type a contol n to move down a line is annoying in my opinion.  having
modes is also annoying. i guess i'm just used to modes more than
control keys
