Subject:    WANTED: Information on Operating System Simulation

I am seeking information on current and planned efforts to
execute operating system-level code on simulated hardware.
I am particularly interested in understanding possible
approaches to executing Unix on a simulated Intel x86-based
processor.  Pointers to relevant publications, or implementations
in public domain or proprietary simulation environments are
of interest.
