Message-ID: <443.27922084@ipc.uucp> Date: 15 Jan 91 05:20:04 GMT Organization: IPC Pension Services Co., Inc., Seattle WA (206) 343-2333 Lines: 27 Oh, phooey. I'm unfamilar with sendmail, and I just about had it up here trying to set up an UUCP link with sendmail. My friend just got a computer, Sun BSD 4.3/System V. He has all the uucp files I recognize, but no smail. However, he has sendmail, and all this stuff about sendmail.cf and more, got to me. Help me before I go bonkers! Originally, I set up the UUCP files, such as L.sys, L-devices, etc..., but couldn't figure out how to get the mailer to recognize ipc as a valid site (there wasn't any smail to put my name in the "paths." database). Then I learned that there's something called sendmail.cf, and I went to try editing it. What a mess. Anyways, after editing, I tried to send mail to john@ipc, and it didn't recognize "domain ipc". So, heck, I tried john@ipc.UUCP, and it almost worked (is there such a thing as almost?). It gave an error... something like uux -1, unknown mailer error number 255. Help me please. All I wanted was to simply have my friend be able to send/receive mail from my site via an UUCP modem call. Please reply to me directly, that'll help me the most. Thanks. Regards, John E.
