This is the third and final posting on this subject.  With the help of
all those who participated in the discussion and vote, the newsgroup
comp.multimedia now exists (it was created on 1/14 while I was
attending the MIT X Conference :-)).  The group's charter is:

	To discuss interactive multimedia technologies and
        applications: systems which combine text, graphic images,
        animation, sound, and/or video, with computer technology.

        The newsgroup would promote discussion of relevant
        technologies (e.g. DVI, CD-I, CD ROM, videodisc)
        applications and methodologies.  It will not be moderated.
