I have now found out that they break elvis(vi). It seems that elvis does not like the screen to scrole without it causing it. I think a better behaved version of vi might not have this problem. Also, you can't compile the recent version of c68 with the standard compiler. It will produce (almost) empty .s files. You must recompile getsym.c with a back level of c68 and bind it in. It seems the routine getch will not return if you don't do this.
