It's magneto-optical based. Highlights: improved security 595.2 MB [double sided disks - manual side change] compact [10.33"x10.33"x4.88"] Winchester interface [as opposed to WORM-style] fast access [avg. access 66.7 msecs.] 10 year media use [need to be destructively verified periodically] ------- For the same cost you could get a BIG hard drive and have some money left over for the DAT drive to back it up to. I suppose the removeable media is of interest to some. Also, it's quite rugged.
