He has also co-authored several papers with Mani Chandy. The following is a favorite introductory paper on the topic and should be required of any graduate course on the topic: Lamport, L., "Time, Clocks, and the Ordering of Events in a Distributed System," CACM, July 1978, Vol. 21, No. 7.
