Keywords: servers clients peers xntp ntp Ultrix Message-ID: <1991Jan20.232705.9225@unvax.union.edu> Date: 20 Jan 91 23:27:05 GMT Organization: Union College, Schenectady, NY Lines: 18 I have been reading conflicting information about how to set up ntp. ntp comes with Ultrix 4.1 (on a DECsystem 5000/200). According to the DEC manuals, I set up our machine as a client of 3 Internet time servers. After transferring xntp to our machine and reading the documentation, I found instructions to set up the machine as a peer of two stratum 1 and one stratum 2 server. Our local machine then becomes a stratum 2 server(?!) I would like to follow the appropriate courtesy and protocol and get this done right. If this is covered in a monthly FAQ, I would appreciate it if someone could direct me to the document. Thanks in advance. -- Eric M. Boehm boehme@unvax.Union.EDU BOEHME@UNION.BITNET
