  I am interested in gaining a better understanding of how hardware simulator
packages work. Are there any text books, manuals, or other related documents
that would cover the basics of;

    Schedulers
    Data Structures unique to Hardware Simulators
    Pros & Cons of interpretive languages vs. compiled languages
    Syntax Parsing

  I feel that it is important to get my feet wet with the fundimentals of
simulation tools before I dive into the heated caldron of Verilog vs. VHDL
vs. LSim vs. many other packages.
