It is already possible to convert 20 different graphics formats to GIF
and/or TIFF by using my utilities Translator, MakeGIF and MakeTIFF (for
the Archimedes however, not the Beeb).

There is no 'standard' for BBC screen files. It is best to convert BBC
screens to Archimedes sprite, or Clear file. Then it can be converted
to GIF/TIFF. The problem with good old Beeb's screens is that you cannot
deduct the resolution/mode from the data itself (a 20K file could be
mode 0, mode 1 or mode 2).
