There is no 'standard' for BBC screen files. It is best to convert BBC screens to Archimedes sprite, or Clear file. Then it can be converted to GIF/TIFF. The problem with good old Beeb's screens is that you cannot deduct the resolution/mode from the data itself (a 20K file could be mode 0, mode 1 or mode 2).
