One nice feature of the Amiga culture (which includes a lot of people at Commodore) is that the best replacement software be it PD, shareware or commercial ends up in the next AmigaDOS. (And in cases where you don't think so, stay with the version you have.) In the early days of the Amiga 1000 doing a good job of tuning for your usage pattern could improve throughput by about ten times. A lot of this stuff has found its way into the distribution version of startup.sequence, but there are a lot more tricks you can try. (Especially if you have a 6820 board or any 68030. SetCPU from Dave Haynie can give you a 2-4x throughput improvement by itself! It has options to copy the ROMs into 32-bit FAST memory and turn on the data caches.) Robert I.
