This thread started out as an argument about who would notice the difference between preemptive and non-preemptive multitasking. I think the point was that a so called average user couldn't tell the difference. The examples I gave attempted to demonstrate that the unsophisticated user could tell the difference. The response to this was that if you substitute this program for that, flip this switch, or set some parameter to a different value then Multifinder works just fine. But, if you are sophisticated enough to figure this stuff out you are also sophisticated enough to appreciate the difference between preemptive and nonpreemptive multitasking. So basically I think EVERYBODY can tell the difference between preemptive and nonpreemptive multitasking. Paul.
