Please reply if you have any inkling as to the correctness of my theory! I would like to use an Octal Buffer/Line Driver in a circut I am building which uses the Amiga external disk port. The disk port requires Open Collector and Open Drain devices to be present. I am wondering if I can use a 74HCT240 at this point to read and drive the OC and OD. Also, is the float state on the tri-state 74HCT240 going to be valid for the Amiga external drive port? If I use 4.7k pull-ups on the OC inputs (from the Amiga) and 4.7k pull-downs on the OD outputs then this should work fine, right? Thanks in advance for your help. - gheller@yoda.eecs.wsu.edu
