Lines: 17 If I remember right (its been a couple months since I last opened my 500) this conector is on the end that attatches to the motherboard. It pushes down on some pins on the board. It is easy to take off and put back on. It isnt like a phone jack, though. How the ribbon cable that runs from the connector is attatched to the keyboard I can't remember. I don't think that it would be to hard to cut this cable, hook the female part of a keyboard connector to the end running to the motherboard, and hook the male part of the connector to the part running from the motherboard (with a long cable, of course). Don't worry about opening the machine to take a look for yourself. You only need to flip the machine upside down, remove about five torx screws, flip it back over, and remove the top. It would only take you a couple of minutes. I have been thinking of doing this myself. If anyone knows where i can get the the case to a 2000 keyboard or has one they'd like to sell, let me know. -Joshua
