The Preamble to the GNU License explicitly states that you're ALLOWED to sell GNU software. If Ken finds somebody who's dumb enough to pay for GCC, fine. Serve him right. TeX, on the other hand, is not GNU software. There are many commercial versions of TeX (who buys one when he can get a PD version ? Probably people who are scared of viruses).
