Lines: 12 It is a good idea to run fsck before you do a dump. I have had the experience of a 835 file system (HP-UX 3.1 and 7.0) being hosed from normal (for us) operation (no crash/power failure/etc), and a dump of this file system being less than helpful when the file system eventually ate itself.
