I'm in desperate need of a program (public domain or otherwise), that
will allow me to link two COM ports together.  (i.e. have the RX data on
COM1 go to TX data on COM2 and vice versa).  What I am attempting to do
is allow a user calling in via modem (attached to COM1) execute the program
and be connected to another computer attached to COM2.

Any ideas?

I seem to remember a program called XLINK (or some such) allowing this,
but can't find a copy of the program, or the source.
