The SE is now $850US. One piece of advice when chosing a laptop. The quality of the LCD display varies enormously between various makes and sometimes between models in a maker's lineup. I have found the displays on many laptops to be unusable. The best display (and it's a very good display even by desktop standards) is the side lit fluorescent display on the new Toshiba 1000LE and 1200XE.
