Sun Remarketing has been selling the Mac Plus for less than $1000 for almost 3 years. They also have MacXL's and Lisas running MacWorks Plus for as low as a few hundred dollars. A Mac plus has printer port, modem port, high-speed network port, SCSI, high res bit mapped screen, 1 meg of memory, an operating system, and a bunch of other features that are buildt in. When you try to build a PC that has all of these features, the price rapidly runs up. And now the classic with hard drive is selling for about $1100 street price. If you buy a Mac IIcx, IIci, or IIfx, you are paying a lot of money for a high end machine. But if you compare to a similar IBM PC or name brand machine, you will find that they all cost just about the same. I purchase PS/2's for one of my clients. A PS/2-70 386 worksatation that runs on their network costs almost $14,000 by the time they get their memory, token-ring cards, and the 8514 high-res display that their software requires. -john- -- =============================================================================== John A.
