I need help with a toolbox call from MacScheme.

I'm trying to use some of the "PB..." toolbox calls (e.g. PBHGetVInfo).
I cannot seem to correctly access string pointers to convert them to 
Scheme strings.  I've successfully used many other toolbox calls, but 
these have me baffled.  An example would be most appreciated.
