I've an Adaptec controller in my machine, and it all seems to be quite stable. I tried QEMM 5.11, but it slowed the disk a lot and I ripped it. If I understand (and recall) the docs about that setting, it only affects enhanced mode, and has to do with how disk interrupts are fielded. I also recall reading some info that said you HAD to have Smartdrive loaded with a SCSI controller so that it could do double buffering of the controller.
