System: AT&T 6386 with VGA, SYSVR3.2, X11R3 server

I have built the X11R4/mit distribution on an AT&T 6386, and am having
trouble running clients that want an ISO-8859 font. The R4 fonts are not
built or installed by 'make world' on the 6386, so I built bdftosnf and
mkfontdir myself. However, the R4 clients display junk when they use the
R4 fonts. I can't seem to come up with a combination of bdftosnf flags
that yield a useable .snf file.

How do I build the R4 fonts?
