[This is from the Spinal Injury Conference]

We use the BSR X10 system in our house and Joy uses it to turn lights and 
the tv set etc on from her bed.  She calls it the "white remote" and she 
doesn't know it's called the BSR X10.  We can also program it with our 
Apple, Mac or IBM computers.  It's easy to install, commonplace (you can 
buy the modules at Radio Shack) and low cost.  It's not as high tech as 
you are talking about but how far do you need to go?
