I need help on Pool of Radiance or POR or POOR :)

I did everything (some out of order) but I thought I cleared all 
the required area in the whole game but I still can't find the 
"boss" and kill him.  I thought he was in the castle but I went in
there, killed whatever I can find, and still can't finish the game.
(The monsters still pop out of the castle).  Any hints?
