Why do you want to cripple the A3000 output with a x240 monitor, when the
3000 is perfectly capable of hooking up to a VGA monitor and displaying
noninterlaced 640x480 graphics directly? (actually I think it is something
more than 680x480 including overscan).

The 3000 will only flicker if you choose to display it on an interlaced
display or you require an NTSC signal.  NTSC flickers, so if you eliminate
flicker you are no longer generating NTSC video.

Then use the VGA compatible output from the 3000 to drive the same
genlock that you would have used with the MS/DOS system.
