I made a cable to connect the two through the modem port, or either port for that matter. The cable works fine, and that is not the problem. HP decided to make KERMIT the protocal that the calculator operates on, which really isn't the problem either. I can transfer text programs back and forth using the translation code of 3 (on the HP), and ProTerm 2.2 with kermit. However, most of the programs that come off of different FTP sights for my calculator are in binary mode. ProTerm can not do that. BTW: I am not talking about binary II. A friend who has a mac has a term program that will transfer in kermit binary mode, so I know it can be done. Question, does anyone have a program for the apple II that can do this. I suppose any source for binary transfer and kermit protocal would help too, but I would prefer not to have to write the program myself.
