Perhaps we need something resembling the "id" or "number" of a window. This becomes more important now that externals (XCMDs/XFCNs) can create their own windows. It's particularly handy being able to create an invisible window, purely to provide a place to store some information in between calls to the external from HyperTalk, and then find that window on a subsequent call by checking some distinctive property of it. Needless to say, I make sure to generate unique names for all my hidden windows, but other people's code might not be so well-behaved...
