I am taking on a project of designing a bar coding system for a small library
of books, manuals, computer equipment, etc. and would like a little insight
as to what systems are available for the Mac.  In particular:

Portable readers
Interfacing with database packages
Different types of bar codes

I would especially like to hear from someone who has a similar system already 
implemented or is in the design process.
