The problem is that you have too many files open.  There, wasn't that easy?
:-)

The solution is to increase the limit on open files, a parameter that is
recorded in your disk's boot blocks.  You can do this with Suitcase II.
Select "power user settings", and one of the choices is to allow more open
suitcases. You could probably just double the number.
